Capital Science 20xx is a biennial event presented by the Washington Academy of Sciences and its Affiliated Organizations. CapSci08 was held on the week-end of March 29-30 at the National Science Foundation in Arlington, Virginia. The plenary sessions this year were exceptional. The NSF Office of Polar Programs provided the insider's look at International Polar Year. And the session on Ethical, Legal, and Policy Considerations of Tissue Ownership, combined with the AAAS forum on the related subject of the Ethics of Expert Witnesses, provided the attendees with some extraordinary insights. The feedback prompted the Academy to schedule an expanded forum to be held on October 30, 2008 in the AAAS auditorium.
The following photos will give you the flavor of CapSci08.
The AAAS forum was also the site of the Grand DoorPrize Drawing, this year, a gourmet lunch hosted by Kenneth Haapala, Master Commander and Dave Barber, Master Cup Bearer of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine - Nation's Capitol Chapter. You can get a taste of that event here.
