Object-Oriented Systems: Technology and Applications
A 5-video series on Object-Oriented Systems, produced when Dr. Sriram served on the Faculty of Engineering at MIT.
Part 1: This introductory video discusses the evolution of object technology and the vernacular of object-oriented systems.
Part 2: Video discusses the role of object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS) in engineering, discusses why OODBMS makes sense for engineering over traditional RDBMS, and provides an architecture of OODBMS for engineering applications. The scenario in this video is explained in detail in my book entitled “Distributed and Integrated Collaborative Engineering Design” and is available for free on ResearchGate.com (Paper copies can be bought at Amazon.com).
Part 3: Video discusses the software life cycle, object-oriented analysis and design, UML notation, and provides an example.
Part 4: This video focuses on various commercial systems.
Part 5: Video discusses several applications built using the OO approach: collaborative engineering, geometric modeling, expert system building tools, etc.
Location: Center for Advanced Engineering Studies, M.I.T., March 1993.
