The Washington Academy of Sciences hosted its Annual Awards Banquet on Friday May 17 at the beautiful headquarters of the National Academy of Sciences building on Constitution Avenue.  This annual gala event is a highlight of the year for the Washington DC science community.

A special feature of this event was the presence of large number of talented high school students from the DC area.

Meet the Awardees for 2024

Awards were given from the Academy to ten amazing scientists, engineers and educators at the awards banquet. Congratulations to these well-deserving awardees!

Dr. Justyna Zwolak receives the Excellence in Research Award in Applied Mathematics from Ronald Boisvert (l) and Mahesh Mani.

Dr. Min Wu receives the Excellence in Research Award in Computer Science from Dinesh Manocha (l) and Mahesh Mani.

Dr. Azad M. Madni receives the Distinguished Career Award in Systems Engineering from Marilee Wheaton and Mahesh Mani.

Dr. Ruzena Bajcsy receives the Distinguished Career Award in Computer Science from Min Lin (l) and Mahesh Mani.

Dr. Andrew Allen receives the Distinguished Career Award in Physics from Igor Levin (l) and Mahesh Mani.
